Job Overview

The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for providing expert engineering support and resolving issues related to clean utility systems, including Water for Injection (WFI), Clean Steam, and various gases. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance existing processes and implement improvements. The engineer will work closely with departments such as Utilities, Manufacturing, and Maintenance to assess and boost the reliability of all assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical support for Facility and Utility operations by diagnosing issues and proposing enhancements to equipment systems. Revise standards, drawings, and specifications as needed. Develop validation protocols and provide guidance on equipment and automation design modifications.
  • Assist in capital and operational expenditure projects related to equipment, including scoping, design reviews, change controls, and validation activities.
  • Lead and execute commissioning and qualification activities for equipment.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional teams to tackle challenges, implement changes, and enhance existing processes.
  • Oversee small-scale capital projects.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned utility and facility engineer with a knack for troubleshooting equipment, conducting investigations, and implementing enhancements to improve system reliability and efficiency. A strong interest in new technologies and a collaborative work environment is essential. The role demands accountability for meeting project milestones, with frequent communication with both internal and external stakeholders. As a representative of the Facilities Engineering team, the engineer must ensure precision in decisions to avoid delays and resource allocation issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of FDA GMP and EMA regulations.
  • Expertise in industrial utility systems generation and distribution.
  • Experience with utilities such as plant steam, chilled water, and cooling towers.
  • Basic familiarity with automation systems and Piping/Instrumentation diagrams.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Project.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work extended hours or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in capital project management.
  • Knowledge of GMP facility and cleanroom design principles.
  • Experience in supporting utility operations.
  • Familiarity with defending clean utility procedures to regulatory bodies.
  • Background in biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Validation experience.
