Volunteer Services Coordinator

Children's National Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and organized Coordinator Volunteer Service to join our Volunteer Services department. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the supervision, recruitment, and retention efforts of our organization-wide volunteer services initiative.
The Coordinator Volunteer Service will be responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and managing Children's National volunteers. They will foster community support, oversee donations, and coordinate hospital tours, patient activities, and special events. The Coordinator will also ensure compliance with all Joint Commission standards and Children's National policies, and certify the volunteer database is kept up-to-date and remains an effective tool for ongoing communication and statistics for annual reports.
The Coordinator Volunteer Services will be responsible for implementing strategic plans through the management of operations of the department/service area; troubleshooting operational issues and developing action plans to resolve. They will work with the Manager to develop, implement, and evaluate weekend services, programs, policies, and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, orient, train, and manage Children's National volunteers
- Foster community support and oversee donations
- Coordinate hospital tours, patient activities, and special events
- Ensure compliance with all Joint Commission standards and Children's National policies
- Certify the volunteer database is kept up-to-date and remains an effective tool for ongoing communication and statistics for annual reports
- Implement strategic plans through the management of operations of the department/service area
- Troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve
- Work with the Manager to develop, implement, and evaluate weekend services, programs, policies, and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years related and progressive experience, preferably in a healthcare environment or volunteer management
- 2 years Supervisory experience
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Spanish speaking preferred
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, training facilitation, customer service, presentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to comfortably work with internal and external customers from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds
- Demonstrated project management, coaching, and coordination skills
- Ability to identify and work collaboratively with diverse teams
