Nurse Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to fill the role of Director of Nursing at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units or services.
Key Responsibilities- Assure quality and appropriateness of care by facilitating and supporting the establishment of unit-based quality improvement programs and continuous improvement processes.
- Create an environment of shared decision-making by promoting multidisciplinary collaboration on patient care and related issues.
- Promote positive customer relations with physicians, patients, families, visitors, and employees by following up on all complaints and providing feedback.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate staff development and competency maintenance programs to ensure that elements of performance improvement findings are incorporated into educational programs as appropriate.
- Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust capital and operating budgets to provide variance reports and/or corrective action plans as requested.
- Develop business plans and/or requests for proposals as required.
- Collaborate with clinical manager and unit staff to interview, select, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and terminate unit personnel.
- Ensure that all policies, procedures, and standards related to assigned unit/service areas are reviewed, revised, and monitored as outlined by regulatory standards.
- Develop unit/service goals and objectives and strategies that promote the mission, vision, and values of the DMC, the individual operating unit, and/or clinical service.
- Masters Degree Required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration, or related field.
- Three to five years of experience, which may be concurrent clinical and/or progressively more responsible management experience.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
