Archdiocese of Baltimore is currently in search of a qualified Accountant to oversee the financial responsibilities of the parish. This role encompasses a variety of accounting tasks, including the maintenance of financial records, monthly reconciliations, and the preparation of financial reports. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours of work per week, with associated benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage accounts payable processes, including the verification of invoices and reconciliation of credit card statements, ensuring each transaction is accurately recorded in the general ledger and resolving any discrepancies as needed.
  • Handle accounts receivable and electronic fund transfers, ensuring precise posting of transactions and the preparation of deposit documentation.
  • Administer weekly payroll and ensure all related entries are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Compile financial data to prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other analytical reports to summarize the current financial position.
  • Assist in the formulation, tracking, and analysis of budgets, providing regular reports that compare actual financial outcomes to projected figures.
  • Engage with parishioners, vendors, and banking representatives to facilitate smooth financial operations.
  • Perform various administrative duties, including maintaining financial records and executing other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business management.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, covering areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is essential.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of making informed decisions and solving problems with minimal guidance.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills.
