Archdiocese of Baltimore is currently looking for a dedicated Accountant to manage the financial responsibilities of the parish. This role encompasses a variety of accounting duties, including the maintenance of financial records, monthly financial closings, and the preparation of financial statements. The position is part-time, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, and includes benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate billing and proper classification in the general ledger. Address and resolve any discrepancies in accounts payable.
- Oversee accounts receivable and Electronic Funds Transactions, ensuring accurate posting and preparation of deposit documentation.
- Administer weekly payroll and maintain related entries in the general ledger.
- Compile current financial status by gathering information; prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other analytical reports.
- Assist in the formulation, upkeep, and analysis of budgets, generating periodic reports that compare actual results against budgeted figures.
- Engage with parishioners, suppliers, vendors, and banking representatives.
- Perform administrative duties, including maintaining information files and executing other assigned tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business management.
- A minimum of two years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
- Experienced in using QuickBooks.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and professionally.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of making decisions and solving problems with minimal guidance.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
