Job Summary

As a Grant and Contract Specialist II, Post Award, you will play a critical role in the administration and processing of external and internal sponsored projects at InsideHigherEd. Your expertise will be essential in providing post-award guidance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and facilitating the successful execution of research grants and contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Post-Award Administration: Provide guidance on the administration and processing of external and internal sponsored projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and university policies.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Monitor post-award activities to ensure compliance with issues involving allowable costs, re-budgeting, and reporting requirements.
  • Budget Management: Facilitate, review, and approve budget revisions and cost transfer requests in compliance with sponsoring agencies' regulations and university policies.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Serve as a primary resource for post-award grant questions, communicate with faculty and staff, and recommend and advise on post-award issues.
  • Project Closeout: Work with the PI and administrators to close out projects in accordance with sponsor and university closeout guidelines and requirements.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Collaborate with the PI, Office of Technology Management, Grant Accounting, and Asset Management to facilitate timely submission of all agency-required project reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the preparation and processing of research grant and/or contract proposals and in their administration, including one year of experience as Grant and Contract Specialist I or its equivalent.
Skills and Abilities
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with other commonly used software.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and sponsors, and to work collaboratively in a team environment.
