Position Overview

The Grant and Contract Specialist II, Post Award plays a crucial role in overseeing the administration and management of sponsored projects after funding has been awarded. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulations governing grant management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the terms and conditions of new awards and establish projects within the financial tracking system to facilitate proper notifications and spending by Principal Investigators (PIs).
  • Monitor post-award activities to ensure adherence to compliance standards regarding allowable costs, budget adjustments, reporting obligations, and faculty time commitments.
  • Facilitate and authorize budget modifications and cost transfer requests in accordance with the regulations set forth by funding agencies and institutional policies.
  • Prepare and submit requests for prior approvals to sponsors, including actions such as no-cost extensions and budget reallocations.
  • Act as the primary resource for inquiries related to post-award grants, providing guidance and recommendations to faculty and staff on compliance issues.
  • Review and negotiate amendments to ongoing projects, contracts, and subawards.
  • Collaborate with PIs and administrative offices to ensure timely project closeouts in line with sponsor and institutional guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and compliance documentation as required by funding agencies.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training sessions related to post-award processes and compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences, or a related discipline is required.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the administration of research grants and contracts, including at least one year in a similar role.
Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills for preparing detailed reports and documentation.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a structured team environment.
  • Experience in reviewing contracts and negotiating terms effectively.
