Truist Risk Officer II (Risk Officer) is responsible for the development, delivery, and day-to-day execution of Enterprise Ethics Risk Programs in support of the Code of Ethics and Conduct Risk oversight. This role will be responsible for building and coordinating with key partners across the company to ensure that monitoring and oversight routines for assigned areas of responsibility including the Code of Ethics, Conduct and Conflicts of Interest risk. The Risk Officer will develop meaningful, relevant, and well-supported risk management protocols and routines that align with Truist's risk appetite framework and present these reports to stakeholders and senior leadership. The Risk Officer will be a thought leader and provide expert support and oversight to multiples business and investigative units. The Risk Officer will be involved in many initiatives that have strategic and broad implications to the company. The Risk Officer will also support consultations, Risk Management Organization working groups, creation of supplemental RMO policies and procedures, while providing 2LOD monitoring support to confirm the execution of risk program requirements.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Manage the development, implementation, and administration of policies, procedures, and technical solutions aligned to assigned risk programs. Specifically, develop and execute upon methodology requirements to ensure risk are identified in a consistent and quantifiable manner across the enterprise. Involvement and responsibilities may extend into other Truist programs based upon strategic objectives within the Ethics Office and the company, including incentive compensation, corporate client practices, third-party and strategic partner practices, and/or Truist ESG practices.
  2. Develop and execute upon oversight and monitoring program routines, both vertically and horizontally, in alignment with RMO standards and analyze/review process documentation to evaluate adequacy and effectiveness across the company. Substantiate findings beyond documentation shortcomings to identify the root cause and promote effective solutions.
  3. Coach and mentor more junior teammates on risk protocols and standards to ensure alignment and thorough understanding, provide analytical and operational support in the development of working group and committee reporting packages, executive leadership proposals/presentations, enterprise-wide risk culture communications, and trainings to support Enterprise Ethics risk programs.
  4. Demonstrate and communicate effective challenge to business partners and senior leaders by providing subject matter knowledge industry related knowledge to support business partnership efforts.
  5. Manage timely and quality delivery of multiple tasks, including detailed testing, monitoring and oversight protocols, project deliverables, and special assignments.
  6. Assist Ethics Office management in providing ad hoc oversight of assigned areas of responsibility within incentive compensation and client practices.
  7. Work independently while exercising judgment, with minimal oversight, to ensure work is completed within deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Eight years of banking, audit, regulatory oversight, consulting, or risk management experience.
  3. Five or more years of experience in a large financial services organization.
  4. Strong understanding of broad risk management, inherent and residual risk, and process concepts.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage moderately complex projects of varying complexities and programs involving multiple stakeholder groups with minimal oversight.
  6. Demonstrated ability to grasp underly concepts in complex information, identify root causes of problems/process breakdowns and the ability to formulate solutions based on synthesis of this data.
  7. Strong decision-making skills and an aptitude for analytics with a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and consult strategically across a large institution with various levels of stakeholders.
  9. Demonstrated success in fast-paced, matrixed, team environments.
  10. Adept with Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Code of Ethics, Conduct Risk Monitoring, and/or Internal Investigative Unit oversight.
  2. 10+ years of banking, audit, regulatory oversight, consulting, or risk management experience.
  3. Advanced Degree or Risk certification program.
