The Opportunity

This position is based in our CLT office with a hybrid work schedule that includes both in-office and remote work.

The Analyst II will be a key player in Ally's Model Risk Management team, reporting to the Model Validation Director and focusing on the validation of Qualified Analytical Tools (QATs). These tools are essential for various critical functions within Ally, including regulatory reporting, forecasting, risk assessment, and strategy development. The Analyst II will ensure the accuracy and relevance of QAT validation reports, identify issues, and collaborate with business lines to promote best practices.

The Work Itself

The following outlines the primary responsibilities of this role. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:

  • Conduct independent reviews of QATs to evaluate their suitability for intended purposes, including assessing constructs, assumptions, data integrity, and overall functionality.
  • Document all review processes thoroughly through formal reports and maintain comprehensive workpapers.
  • Prepare high-quality QAT validation reports that are clear, accurate, and concise.
  • Identify and document findings within QATs, and assess the effectiveness of remediation efforts.
  • Respond to ad hoc analysis requests from Model Governance and other internal teams.
  • Collaborate with various teams to identify opportunities for enhancing Model Risk Management practices.
  • Drive efficiency in reporting through the implementation of technology-driven automation and well-structured processes.
  • Contribute to risk identification and quantification analysis and reporting.
  • Continuously enhance expertise in analytical methods and tools through self-directed learning.

The Skills You Bring

A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

A minimum of 1 year of experience (2-4 years preferred) in banking or financial services, with a focus on areas such as forecasting, risk management, or analytics.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel (including VBA) and experience with data visualization tools like Power BI.

Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R is essential.

Ability to work with large datasets and produce accurate documentation and reports.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong organizational abilities.

Experience in Model Risk Management validations and testing methodologies is preferred.

Progress towards relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, FRM) is a plus.
