Job Overview:

As a Licensed Land Surveyor at SME, you will collaborate with both junior and senior survey professionals, as well as other specialists in the field. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various sectors, including land development, energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare comprehensive survey documents and calculations for ALTA, Boundary, and Topographic Surveys, while also creating survey drawings and descriptions using AutoCAD and related software.
  • Manage project timelines, prepare necessary forms, and effectively communicate project expectations to the team, while overseeing their progress and contributions.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by working closely with junior and senior staff, promoting a high-performance culture.
  • Utilize your expertise to review team-generated data and documents for accuracy. Analyze information from various sources, including traditional field surveys, point clouds, and GIS, to develop detailed plans and reports. Provide construction-related services, including client correspondence and construction plan interpretation.
  • Review relevant reference materials and local statutes, sharing insights with team members and clients. Reassess project documentation, including field notes and property descriptions.
Qualifications:
  • Proficient in computer operating systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), as well as conventional total stations, robotic instruments, GNSS surveying equipment, and 3D scanning technologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to clients, team members, and supervisors.
  • Strong organizational abilities, with a knack for prioritizing tasks and maintaining detailed records of field observations and safety concerns.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, ensuring a customer-focused approach.
  • Adaptable to change, with the ability to respond productively to interruptions and evolving conditions.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles, including the ability to interpret surveys and maps.
  • Aptitude for identifying and resolving complex technical issues in the field through critical thinking.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and adherence to safety protocols, ensuring a secure work environment.
  • Physical capability to handle demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs, navigating uneven terrain, and working in various weather conditions.
