Job Title: Benefits Administrator

The Safer Foundation is a social service provider to individuals with arrest and conviction records. Our mission is to prepare individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment.

Job Summary

The Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering and educating employees on various benefit programs, including FMLA, workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, group life, medical, dental, disability, and retirement programs. This role also involves maintaining employee records and related procedures and processes for all Safer employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with benefit providers to resolve problems and ensure effective utilization of benefits plans.
  • Coordinate and provide regular employee communication regarding benefits plans and programs, including information on plan provisions to inform employee benefits decisions.
  • Install new plans and changes to existing plans through the preparation of announcement materials, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees.
  • Handle inquiries and complaints in a manner that ensures quick, equitable, and courteous resolution, maintaining contact with insurance companies, employees, and beneficiaries to facilitate proper and complete utilization of benefits.
Requirements
  • General knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Workers' Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, and DOL requirements.
  • Computer proficiency and aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS database applications.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Ability to effectively plan and set priorities.
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a basic knowledge of plan designs.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management or related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years related benefits or employee benefit administration experience required.
