Job Summary:

The Director of Development and Fundraising will lead the development of strategic fundraising plans to secure funding for CARE's mission. This role will focus on major giving prospects and donors, with a particular emphasis on the East coast of the United States and the New York market.

The Director will work closely with the Senior Director, Philanthropy and the Executive Director to develop and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for high net worth donors and family/private foundations. This will involve securing funding for CARE's core programs, planned gifts, and support for all campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a dynamic portfolio of donors and prospects, developing and implementing strategic engagement and solicitation strategies.
  • Solicit outright gifts of $10,000+ with a goal of focusing on gifts of $25,000+ to meet annual and quarterly fundraising goals.
  • Work with Planned Giving colleagues to support the endowment campaign and cross-team collaboration goals.
  • Steward donor gifts with formal and informal updates and impact reports on gifts secured.
  • Build meaningful connections and relationships between donors and the organization, serving as a bridge, partner, and liaison between funders and CARE.
  • Responsibly maintain donor records and pipelines in CARE's CRM, Salesforce.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a fundraising role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of fundraising concepts, including Planned Giving, Major Gifts, and stewardship functions.
  • Passion and commitment for CARE's mission and values.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, good judgment, and discretion.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, cultivate, and steward strong relationships with internal and external audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build successful innovative donor engagement strategies.

Working Relationships:

  • Partner closely with other CARE teams, including Planned Giving, Prospect Management, and Grants Coordination.
  • Collaborate with the Major Gifts team and other CARE partners to steward donor gifts and build relationships.
