Electrical Construction Project Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Construction Project Manager to join our team at M.C. Dean. As an Electrical Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the entire spectrum of a project lifecycle, from initiation to close out. Your initial assignment will be a 1.3M sq. ft. data center project in our Mission Critical market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform administration, organization, and implementation of small electrical construction projects or parts of a larger project.
  • Manage one or more phases of a project lifecycle, including proposal, design, solutioning, installation, and close.
  • Assist with preparation of project documentation, including project requirements, manpower requirements, project layout, project schedules, detailed equipment plans, and field office support.
  • Coordinate and assist with or lead a project kick-off meeting.
  • Develop a Work Breakdown Structure for the project with properly named work packages and resources assigned to tasks to establish a baseline resource plan.
  • Assist with scheduling of resources on the project to maintain the baseline project schedule.
  • Create baseline vs actual reporting of resources, as required.
  • Provide and execute site surveys, site cost studies, projected costs, forecasts, cost codes, and progress reports, as required.
  • Assist with collection of progress data of both self-perform and contractor-perform work.
  • Observe and measure project scope and performance against the project plan to ensure that the project is within acceptable variances of cost, budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Be involved in the development and maintenance of project artifacts, including shop drawings that are required to ensure effective short-term and long-term staffing success for the project.
  • Assist with acquisition of major materials and monitoring tool and equipment requirements with project leadership and the warehouse, as required.
  • Assist with acquisition of required permits and licenses for projects and ensure inspections are handled correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Estimate, schedule, or confer with estimators, engineers, schedulers, and other resources assigned to the project to identify matters, such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Review the project schedule with the General Contractor and/or Customer, if requested by project leadership.
  • Manage the integration of data from multiple company systems and help analyze the data to draw insights on project progress.
  • Assure timely completion of project punch-list items, the submittal of accurate as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and the completion of training materials.
  • Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvements, and best practices.
  • Ensure safety regulations are adhered to and issues identified.
  • Maintain a positive, assertive relationship with project leadership to achieve project milestones and overall project success.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics preferably from an ABET accredited program.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Engineering discipline with some construction experience optional.
  • Working knowledge of a project management/project scheduling system (MS Project or Primavera P6).
  • Ability to create project schedules and scheduling of resources (work items and tasks by hours).
  • Ability to estimate project work and prepare Customer proposals.
  • Understanding of critical path analysis of project and resource data to identify potential project issues.
  • Ability to discuss project and resource schedules, costs, and budgets with project leadership.
  • Working knowledge of procurement processes, including evaluating suppliers and purchasing technical goods and services.
  • Ability to create technical documentation, including design documents and reference libraries.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Team building and team leadership skills.
  • Experience with the following tools:
  • MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Power BI.
  • MS Project Server.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • MS Outlook Mail.
  • AutoCAD.
  • Engineering Document Management System (EDMS).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of finance systems as it relates to project budgets and cost codes.
  • Understanding of earned value analysis as it relates to project management.
  • Proficiency in the use of automated cost/schedule management systems.
Abilities:
