Medical Technologist-Inpatient Part-time Evenings

We are seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our inpatient laboratory team in a part-time evening shift role. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, while providing exceptional patient care and service.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all aspects of pre-analytic workflow, including specimen collection, processing, and verification.
- Verify orders and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Collect, receive, and process specimens, ensuring they are correctly labeled and stored.
- Perform analytical testing, including preventative maintenance on instruments and equipment.
- Maintain test system integrity, ensuring reagents and supplies meet defined acceptability criteria.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance activities, including evaluating QC results and taking corrective action as needed.
- Prepare and ship specimens to approved testing locations, as required.
- Perform technical review and interpretation of test results, including correlation with other patient data.
- Troubleshoot and solve problems, including recognizing test system performance issues and taking corrective action.
- Store specimens and related materials according to protocols, and retrieve them as needed.
- Verify and report results, including generating written reports and responding to inquiries.
- Amend reports and correct erroneous reports, as needed.
- Perform billing and charge capture activities, including recognizing billing problems and escalating them as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- ASCP certification or equivalent required; certification in a specific laboratory discipline preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with a focus on inpatient testing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
