Building Support Specialist

Position: Facilities Assistant
Employment Type: Part-time / Non-exempt / Support Staff (up to 25 hours per week)
Objective: To perform general custodial duties, assist with room arrangements, conduct minor repairs, and engage with groups utilizing the facility to ensure a comfortable and secure environment.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Senior Pastor through the Director of Facilities Services, with direct oversight from the Custodial Supervisor. Part of the Facilities Department Team.
Work Schedule:
- Part-time, flexible hours based on programs and projects.
- Evening and weekend responsibilities may be required.
- Hours to be coordinated with the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and operational manuals.
- Experience in general landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Capable of working collaboratively with staff and leading volunteers.
- Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment for troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine cleaning of carpets and hard surfaces.
- Secure the building during evening hours.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and partitions as necessary, including meal setups.
- Construct stage props and other architectural features within the facility.
- Repair and maintain various equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers, power tools, and standard vehicles.
- Perform standard interior and exterior building repairs.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, notifying appropriate personnel and adhering to safety protocols.
- Carry out landscaping and mowing tasks as needed.
- Assist with minor building repairs and snow removal.
- Complete additional cleaning tasks as requested.

- Able to address a variety of ministry needs.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Medium work capacity, with frequent walking (more than 2/3 of the time).
- Regular bending, stooping, and lifting/carrying (1/3 to 2/3 of the time).
- Occasional climbing and using machine controls, with the ability to lift objects weighing up to specified limits.
- Basic skills in mathematics, reading, reasoning, speaking, and writing.
- Creative thinking, collaboration, and listening skills are essential. Basic computer skills are required.
- Light physical tasks include sitting, prolonged standing, and occasional reaching or climbing in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent exposure to stairs and noise/vibration.
