Fleet Assistant Job Description

Job Summary:

The City of New York is seeking a highly motivated and organized Fleet Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and equipped with necessary permits and licenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain accurate records of fleet vehicles, including maintenance schedules, inspections, and permits.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts and services.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and analyses to support fleet management decisions.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders, including responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty.
  • Or an associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described above.
  • Or a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described above.
