Position Purpose: This role is established to enhance capabilities and eliminate losses within the Processing Team at the fairlife facility.

The primary function of this position is to serve as a Senior Level Technician within the Processing Team. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of team members and equipment, overseeing successful production processes from product receiving to separation, filtration, batching, blending, and pasteurization. This role also involves participating in training initiatives and the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Aids, utilizing Continuous Improvement (CI) tools such as SMED/VSM and Lean methodologies, and leading or supporting training efforts to ensure production meets all efficiency, quality, and food safety standards.

The incumbent will possess a comprehensive understanding of inventory management, maintenance planning, and operational maintenance procedures. This individual will facilitate and support post-action CI activities and improvement strategies, collaborating closely with the plant's CI team to enhance processing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Emphasize problem-solving and loss prevention in all activities.
  • Establish and define equipment standards, collaborating with team members to implement them across all shifts.
  • Identify, prioritize, and eliminate process losses, leading discussions on losses and developing a monthly Top Three Plan.
  • Train team members on various operational topics, ensuring progression towards training objectives.
  • Lead or assist in CI activities, developing problem statements and employing advanced analysis techniques to address causal factors.
  • Support validation and change management stemming from process improvement initiatives.
  • Enhance process capability and control using PQM/MU/SPC/RE methods.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities.
  • Contribute to the 90 Day Plan team for the department.
  • Collaborate with Processing and Maintenance staff to define, create, and monitor Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Possess advanced knowledge of equipment maintenance and train team members accordingly.
  • Support hands-on production activities from Raw Milk Receiving to UHT operation and Aseptic Tank filling.
  • Act as a backup for the Shift Lead or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Engage in team-building activities in a leadership or supportive capacity.
  • Set and advocate for safety standards to maintain an incident-free environment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in beverage manufacturing operations, preferably in dairy or brewed beverages, in a facility with an annual production of at least 20 million cases.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in a beverage manufacturing facility employing a Continuous Improvement approach.
  • Progression to Senior Level or Team Lead with demonstrated increased responsibilities in previous roles.
  • A Bachelor of Science or a Two-Year Technical Certification in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in dairy, carbonated soda, or brewing liquid production is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate to advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Capability to navigate ambiguity and thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Notify supervision of any necessary repairs or adjustments that may impact product quality or food safety.
  • Understand and comply with color-coded container policies in production areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet company, customer, and government standards.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and product quality.
  • Identify and document any issues concerning food safety and quality.

Position Reporting: Reports to the Senior Manager of Processing.

Travel Requirements: Approximately 5% annually, with increased travel expected during training and onboarding.
