Position Overview

The Multicultural Learning Center (MLC) is a K-8 dual immersion public charter school dedicated to fostering a diverse learning environment where cultural and individual differences contribute to academic, social, and personal growth.

We seek passionate educators committed to bilingual education and social equity. Our focus is on nurturing biliterate, globally aware, and socially-emotionally competent scholars. Candidates should have experience in constructivist teaching methods, project-based learning, restorative practices, effective classroom management, collaboration, social-emotional learning, and language development.

MLC is situated in a vibrant community, providing a rich backdrop for educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement the substitute plan provided by the regular teacher for all academic and social-emotional learning activities.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to effectively execute learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate daily attendance as directed by the teacher or school administration.
  • Create and uphold a safe and effective learning environment for students.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including protocols for maintaining student well-being.
  • Support student behavior through established systems and employ positive discipline strategies to re-engage learners.
  • Work alongside Resource Teachers or Aides to address the needs of students with disabilities and engage in proactive discussions regarding their academic and social-emotional requirements.
  • Consult with the Director of Student Services for students exhibiting significant academic, social, or behavioral challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with school leadership to address any concerns and ensure instructional continuity.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with strong vocabulary and syntax skills in both languages.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
Additional Information

Compensation: $30 per hour
