Position Overview

The Event Service Supervisor supports the Catering Manager in managing daily operations, including casual dining, upscale events, private gatherings, and bar services. This role involves collaborating with the Event Management teams to guarantee that all functions are meticulously organized and that the expectations of Clients and Guests are consistently surpassed.

This position offers an hourly wage of $20.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with Department Heads and Staff to deliver exceptional service at all times.
  • Oversee, train, and cultivate an engaging environment for Staff.
  • Review assigned banquet staff duties and event menus prior to scheduled functions.
  • Conduct pre-event meetings with staff to ensure standards of appearance and hygiene are upheld; assign roles and partners; and review event orders.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Chef or event coordinator to ensure all details are meticulously planned and executed. Ensure timely communication of any changes or additional instructions.
  • Verify that adequate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other necessary items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for items not in inventory.
  • Inspect room setups before events and meet with the Executive Chef to confirm food quantities and timing for service.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all equipment (i.e., china, glassware, silverware, linens, and props) after use.
  • Conduct random audits during events to assess food quality and service standards. Ensure that food is served at the correct temperature, presented properly, and that sufficient quantities are available while maximizing upsell opportunities.
  • Regularly review the banquet schedule for updates, calendar events, and special occasions.
  • Incorporate safe work practices into job performance.
  • Possess the ability to read and comprehend Banquet Event Orders.
  • Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray.
  • Deliver fine dining level food and beverage service to guests at all events consistently.
  • Initiate and maintain friendly and professional interactions with guests, ensuring all needs are anticipated and met.
  • Maintain inventory for both food and beverage stations.
  • Keep all event areas and front-of-house staging areas tidy and organized.
  • Participate in both setup and cleanup of food and beverage service items.
  • Exhibit a high level of social interaction. Ability to work closely with staff and frequently engage with patrons.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure accuracy and completeness in work.
  • Maintain a customer-focused, positive, and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects up to 30 lbs. and frequently 15 lbs.
  • Punctuality with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance is essential.
  • Respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers and members of the business community.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience as a service/floor or bartending supervisor in a la carte or private dining service.
  • Previous banquet/catering experience in a multi-venue environment is highly preferred.
  • High-energy, outgoing personality with strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Attention to detail in setup and service is crucial.
  • Diplomatic team player capable of fostering relationships with Members, Employees, and guests.
