Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Arkansas Quality Therapy. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing direct care services to our clients, promoting their independence, and enhancing their overall quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of each client's medical needs, medications, diagnoses, strengths, and limitations.
  2. Monitor and support daily schedules and routines, ensuring a smooth and efficient care experience.
  3. Collaborate with clients to achieve their Individual Service Habilitation Plan goals and objectives.
  4. Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, addressing issues related to problem-solving, information sharing, and crisis intervention.
  5. Assist clients in maintaining a clean and organized living environment, promoting their independence and self-sufficiency.
  6. Support clients in developing and maintaining independent living skills, such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, hygiene, and laundry.
  7. Accompany clients on community outings, engaging them in age-appropriate activities and promoting socialization and enrichment.
  8. Develop and maintain a schedule/calendar of activities for clients, ensuring a balanced and engaging care experience.
  9. Document daily progress notes and service information in the client Communication Book, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  10. Maintain open communication with team members, including clients, other staff, supervisors, and case managers.
  11. Participate in team meetings, providing input on organizational, behavioral, and academic issues.
  12. Consult with supervisors regularly to address any outstanding issues or concerns.
  13. Follow Positive Behavior Plans for clients with established plans, collecting data as necessary.
  14. Assist clients with medication administration, ensuring accurate dosages and secure storage.
Requirements
  • A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • A High School diploma or GED, and/or 2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adequate analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of the needs of persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and manage crises.
  • Reliability, dependability, trustworthiness, and confidentiality.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Maintenance of 12 hours of training in 'Best Practices' for working with individuals who are Developmentally Disabled.
  • Attendance at CPR/First Aid Training.
