Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional provides essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, enabling them to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities in their community. This role requires a high level of empathy, patience, and understanding, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support with daily living skills, health, and independent living activities.
  • Assist individuals in maintaining appropriate behavior and respecting others in their home and community.
  • Support individuals in daily living skills as outlined in their annual Medicaid Waiver Person-Centered Service Plan.
  • Enhance community awareness by participating in outings, such as shopping, social events, appointments, and other activities of interest.
  • Provide transportation, as needed, via personal vehicle, ensuring compliance with Arkansas State minimum auto liability insurance requirements.
  • Maintain records of expenses for individuals served and submit them to the Direct Care Supervisor.
  • Contribute to the development of individualized plans and provide input during annual PCSP reviews.
  • Document daily progress, behavior incidents, and other relevant information.
  • Complete required training, including orientation, consumer-specific training, Defensive Driver training, and other necessary courses.
  • Submit weekly timesheets, medication sheets, and other documentation to the Direct Care Supervisor by Monday morning.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a minimum of one year of relevant work experience with individuals with developmental disabilities. A valid Arkansas driver's license and proof of auto liability insurance are also required.

Work Environment:

This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to operate a motor vehicle and interact with individuals with developmental disabilities. The work environment is moderate, with occasional exposure to changing weather conditions.
