Job Title: Direct Support Professional

AEDD is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting an individual with developmental disabilities to live independently in their home or family environment.

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional provides essential support to enable individuals with developmental disabilities to live, work, and participate in recreational activities in the community. This role requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality care and support to individuals with varying needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support with daily living skills, health, and independent living activities.
  • Assist individuals in maintaining appropriate behavior and respecting others in the community.
  • Support individuals in daily living skills as outlined in the annual Medicaid Waiver Person-Centered Service Plan.
  • Enhance community awareness by participating in outings, including shopping, social events, appointments, and other activities of interest.
  • Provide transportation, as needed, via personal vehicle, ensuring compliance with Arkansas State minimum auto liability insurance requirements.
  • Maintain records of expenses for individuals served and submit to the Direct Care Supervisor.
  • Contribute to the development of Annual PCSP plans and provide input and recommendations.
  • Document daily progress, including timesheets, behavior incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Complete required training, including orientation, consumer-specific training, Defensive Driver training, and other necessary courses.
  • Submit weekly timesheets, medication sheets, and other documentation to the Direct Care Supervisor by Monday morning.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience with a public health, human services, or community service agency. Alternatively, you may have a minimum of two years of verifiable experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to operate a motor vehicle and ensuring a lapse of attention does not result in injury or harm to the individuals being transported.
