About the Role:

The Marriott Anchorage Downtown is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Kitchen Staff: Lead and motivate a team of cooks and kitchen assistants to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate Food Production: Plan and execute the preparation of meals, ensuring that all dishes are presented to the highest standards.
  • Enforce Health and Safety Standards: Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Train and Develop Staff: Provide training and guidance to junior staff members, helping them to develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Assist with Food Preparation: Assist with the preparation of meals, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of food being prepared, ensuring that all dishes meet the highest standards.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff, ensuring that all orders are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Proven Cooking Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in a senior kitchen role, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, and customers.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm and composed under pressure.
