We are seeking a highly skilled Business Manager to join our team at Stockbridge Community Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial affairs of the district, ensuring the effective management of resources, and providing strategic guidance to support the achievement of our educational goals.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the management of the financial affairs of the district, including budget development, financial planning, and accounting operations.
- Assist the Superintendent with budget development and long-range financial planning, ensuring alignment with district goals and objectives.
- Establish and supervise a program of accounting that records all money and credit transactions in detail, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supervise all accounting operations, including the collection, safekeeping, and distribution of funds, as well as the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Facilitate the required audit of the district's fiscal activity, ensuring timely completion and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage the district's investment of idle funds, ensuring optimal returns and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Supervise the preparation of purchase orders and payment of bills, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Assist in preparing Board agenda information relative to business-related items, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Act as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to business and financial affairs of the district, providing strategic guidance and support.
- Assist in the publishing of required annual reports, notices, and other financial documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Approve vouchers and invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct cost analysis, financial, salary, and wage, and fringe benefits surveys, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Responsible for filing reports on a timely basis with the Michigan Department of Education related to special education expenses, transportation, food service, and other financial matters.
- Determine employees' placement on appropriate wage scales, ensuring fairness and equity.
- Manage the district's tax-sheltered annuity program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Work closely and cooperatively with independent auditors, ensuring timely and accurate completion of audits.
- Manage grants, including reporting and implementation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Available to undertake any other assigned tasks from the Superintendent or Board of Education, ensuring flexibility and adaptability.
- Punctual, reliable, and predictable attendance is required.
The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per annum, commensurate with education and experience. Compensation will be negotiated and based on individual qualifications.
EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation, ensuring fairness and equity.
