Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our test operations team at Impulse Space. As the Head of Test Operations, you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating critical test facilities and equipment to ensure the success of our spaceflight hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test Facility Design and Operations: Manage the design and execution of new test facilities and equipment required to develop and validate critical spacecraft systems.
  • Team Leadership: Lead an operational team of engineers and technicians across the company, including recruitment and development of team members with diverse skill sets.
  • Strategic Decision Making: Own strategic decisions for testing approach and ensure they deliver upon desired outcomes.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Work with cross-discipline engineering teams to design cost-efficient test and automation equipment.
  • Process Improvement: Implement processes and procedures to assure a high rate of development and production testing.
  • Safety and Situational Awareness: Institute a high level of safety and situational awareness in all test operations.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience: 9+ years of direct experience in hardware test operations and 4+ years of leadership experience.
  • Skills: Experience in designing or operating cryogenic liquid engine, structural test, or rocket launch facilities, as well as demonstrated ability to lead teams on aggressive projects and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications.
  • Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead teams on aggressive projects and timelines.
  • Test Stand Experience: Demonstrated experience in building or operating a liquid rocket engine test stand.
