Thermoplastic Fabrication Technician

The Fabricator II position at Mega Fluid Systems involves the meticulous assembly and fabrication of PFA and PVDF plastic components essential for our manufacturing operations. We are seeking candidates for two shifts: 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., which includes a 10% shift differential pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform plastic welding, repair, and fabrication of rigid thermoplastics.
  • Utilize conventional lathes for working with rigid thermoplastics.
  • Operate essential shop equipment and machinery effectively.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work and fabrication tasks.
  • Engage in general plastic shop fabrication, including welding, cutting, sanding, assembly, and installation.
  • Collaborate with team members to assemble system components.
  • Interpret and read mechanical drawings accurately.
  • Employ measuring devices with precision.
  • Identify and weld various types of plastics.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment following a 5S system.
  • Conserve resources by utilizing equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Adhere to Mega Fluid Systems' safety and quality standards consistently.
  • Document safety and quality actions and observations as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Basic mathematical skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of assemblers.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years of experience reading mechanical assembly drawings or a willingness to learn quickly.
  • 3-5 years of experience in assembling and/or fabricating plastic components.
  • 3-5 years of experience adhering to safety and quality standards in a production environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in plastic welding.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a shop environment, utilizing hand and power tools.
  • Woodworking skills are preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally walk, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Compensation: $20-$24 Hourly Wage
