Position Overview:

  • The Clinical Services Associate (CSA) plays a crucial role in assisting the practice manager and physicians by ensuring a patient-centered approach, enhancing the delivery of high-quality care, and striving to meet or exceed patient satisfaction and operational targets. The CSA will perform both clinical and administrative tasks, functioning as a Medical Assistant and Patient Services Associate as needed. The distribution of time between these roles will be determined by operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care Duties:
    • Efficiently prepares patients for their appointments, utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) to notify providers of patient readiness, reviewing medical histories, and documenting vital signs.
    • Monitors patient conditions and communicates any significant changes to the healthcare provider.
    • Assists patients with mobility and personal care as necessary.
    • Manages specimen collection and testing, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with quality control standards.
    • Conducts outpatient screening tests and assists in minor surgical procedures as required.
    • Responds effectively to emergency situations.
    • Administers medications and vaccinations as per regulatory guidelines, under the supervision of the provider.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Provides proactive telephonic patient care, coordinating with specialists and other healthcare services.
    • Manages documentation and correspondence related to patient visits.
    • Facilitates patient follow-up and care instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adheres to infection control protocols and maintains a clean and organized patient care environment.
    • Ensures proper functioning and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment.
    • Maintains a safe environment for patients, particularly those at risk for falls or confusion.
  • Patient Service Excellence:
    • Strives to understand and anticipate patient needs, managing service recovery efforts when necessary.
    • Handles patient inquiries and appointment scheduling efficiently.
    • Communicates effectively with patients regarding wait times and service flow.
  • Financial Responsibilities:
    • Maintains knowledge of insurance requirements and assists with patient registration and billing processes.
    • Accurately records financial transactions and participates in cash reconciliation processes.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensures adherence to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Demonstrates flexibility in adopting new processes and operational changes.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (Required)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (Required)
  • Medical Assistant certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire (Required)
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical office experience or 4 years of customer service experience. Advanced degrees may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
