ROLE SUMMARY
The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a vital role in delivering patient care services, ensuring cleanliness, maintaining inventory of supplies and equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols across various environments. This position requires the ability to apply knowledge and skills tailored to the specific patient population. Responsibilities include receiving assignments from registered nurses and effectively communicating patient status to ensure optimal care.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Assist in providing comprehensive patient care under the guidance of licensed nursing staff.
- Support room turnover processes, ensuring thorough cleaning of equipment and environments.
- Organize and manage supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Engage professionally with all members of the healthcare team, patients, and providers.
- Accurately record and report vital signs as directed.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues and resolve conflicts independently when necessary.
- Support patient care in compliance with established policies and regulatory standards.
- Understand and apply sterile and non-sterile techniques appropriately.
- Adhere to safety protocols consistently.
The incumbent may be required to undertake further responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred, particularly in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with Life Support Training policies is beneficial.
Licensure: Valid certification as a CNA, Phlebotomist, or CMA/CCMA/RMA as per state regulations.
Essential Skills:
- Basic computer proficiency and administrative capabilities.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong critical thinking abilities and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Physical Demand Code: 17A, Medical Technician/Other Techs
Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand
This role involves continuous sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Frequent repetitive movements are required. Effective communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential. Attention to detail and legible writing are necessary. The ability to lift, push, or pull weights up to 100 lbs. occasionally is expected, with safe handling equipment recommended for heavier loads.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Usage of safety equipment for infection control may be necessary.
- On-call responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
- Willingness to travel between facilities as required.
