Job Title: Research Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Operations Manager to join our team at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the non-scientific aspects of our research projects, including budgeting, financial management, and human resources administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage budgets and financial resources for research projects
  • Administer human resources, including recruitment, training, and performance management
  • Provide administrative support to research teams, including coordination of meetings and events
  • Develop and implement business processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement long-term strategic plans
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in research administration or a related field
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting and financial management principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
