Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant I/II to join our team at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research. The successful candidate will assist in conducting bench-level experiments and small independent research projects to support the scientific research objectives of the Raguram Lab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments, including PCR, plasmid preparation, RNA purification, and molecular cloning.
  • Perform mammalian cell tissue culture experiments, including the production and purification of viral vectors.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to complete investigations.
  • Prepare, order, and maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions, and supplies.
  • Document, compile, and assist in interpreting experimental data. Report data to supervisor in oral and written reports.
  • Consult scientific literature as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, or a related field.
  • At least one year of undergraduate research experience.
  • Proficiency in basic lab techniques and principles of molecular biology required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience with molecular cloning, tissue culture, and viral vectors preferred.
