Your Role

The Design Assurance Engineer Intern will support design qualification and engineering throughout the product development and manufacturing processes. This role will be the primary contact for the project team and clients regarding safety compliance and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Plexus' Standard Operating Procedures and relevant ISO standards, including FDA Quality System Regulations, REACH, RoHS directives, and medical device standards.
  • Oversee the creation and assembly of prototypes by drafting and reviewing product documentation in line with quality and change management protocols. Provide technical support to design engineers and procurement teams to ensure timely and high-quality prototype development.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Plexus quality system.
  • Utilize lab equipment and debugging techniques to verify that electro-mechanical products meet design specifications.
  • Establish specifications to adhere to regulatory requirements for target markets and facilitate the documentation of these specifications.
  • Lead the creation of the product Risk Management Plan, Design Failure Modes and Effects Analyses, and Fault Tree Analyses to comply with ISO 14971 standards.
  • Engage in all Design Verification testing activities, including the generation of Verification Plans, Procedures, Traceability Matrices, and Reports, as well as conducting prototype tests.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Software Engineering throughout the internship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Students at the Sophomore or Junior level.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
