Job Title: Facilities Manager

BioMed Realty, a leading provider of real estate solutions to the life science and technology industries, is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to join our team. As a key member of our property management group, you will be responsible for ensuring the functional capability of our buildings and systems, collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage third-party service providers responsible for ongoing facility management.
  • Oversee budget planning for assigned portfolios, providing financial reports and summaries.
  • Select vendors and secure bids for maintenance, engineering, and tenant services.
  • Ensure completion of maintenance work in accordance with established standards and safety regulations.
  • Review and approve maintenance, engineering, and utility invoices for cost, allocation, and completion.
  • Participate in property acquisition and due diligence processes.
  • Conduct site inspections to assess building and system conditions.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of reports with government and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain a preventative maintenance program to maximize asset value.
  • Manage technical systems, including air handling units, exhaust fans, and central utilities systems.
  • Troubleshoot system/equipment and propose engineering solutions.
Requirements:
  • BA/BS in engineering, facilities management, or related field required.
  • Five to ten years of progressive facilities management experience, preferably in life science and/or laboratory facilities.
  • Experience in HVAC design and engineering, electrical design and engineering, plumbing design and engineering, and other building support systems.
  • Knowledge of financial terms and principles relating to facilities management.
  • Experience forecasting and preparing budgets and reports summarizing financial, operating, and capital performance data.
  • Experience with building automation systems and knowledge of Allerton systems is a plus.
  • Proven experience with sustainability and energy conservation programs in commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, AutoCad, and maintenance management systems.
  • Ability to read and understand building plans and specifications.
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized, task-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
