Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Program Facilitator to join our team at the University of Nebraska. As a Program Facilitator, you will play a critical role in teaching culturally-grounded, empowerment-based gender transformative programming to youth on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach IMpower programming to boys, girls, and trans and gender diverse youth, including Two Spirit Youth, in schools and after-school settings.
  • Provide support to the network referral system component of IMpower.
  • Assist with research tasks such as participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention; data entry; community engagement events; dissemination; grant writing; and other research and programmatic tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience plus less than one year of experience working with tribal communities and/or knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and histories.
  • Knowledge of teaching in schools and/or working with youth in groups.
  • A commitment to gender equity and to violence-free communities.
  • Critical thinking skills to assess difficult situations and use learning to implement the best course of action.
  • Ability to engage in difficult and challenging conversations.
  • Organizational skills required to juggle competing priorities, interests, trainings, schedules, timelines, and work-related arrangements.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
  • A valid driver's license and meeting University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant coursework or specialized training beyond high school in Indigenous studies, psychology, sociology, public health, social work, family studies, criminology, or a highly related field.
  • Experience working with and/or knowledge of sexual violence prevention and/or intervention.
  • Experience working with youth in school or community-based settings.
  • A history of volunteer work or similar evidence of commitment to the well-being of others and community.
