Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Pathology Assistant to join our team at ISD 728- Elk River Area Schools. As a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant, you will work under the direction of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide direct instruction to students who qualify for speech/language services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct and indirect/consultative speech/language therapy services to students in accordance with their Individualized Educational Plan (IEP)
  • Collaborate with the SLP and school staff to adapt school and classroom environments, tools, and materials to improve student communication
  • Meet regularly with the SLP to coordinate services, maintain timely documentation, and update student information
  • Develop lesson plans, prepare materials, and create visuals for speech services provided to students
  • Provide documentation of student services progress reports, annual IEP present levels of performance, and suggestions for skills to target in goals/objectives
  • Conduct/assist with articulation screenings, including scheduling student sessions
Requirements
  • Associates degree from a speech-language pathology assistant program or a Bachelor's degree in communication sciences or disorders with additional transcript credit in assistant-level service delivery practices and completion of at least 100 hours of supervised field work experience
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to create and write correspondence and other communication materials
  • Strong technology/computer skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, accepting feedback from the SLP/Supervisor while maintaining good relationships
Preferred Qualifications
  • Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Certification
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced educational environment and to maintain regular attendance. The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds is also required.
