Position Overview:

The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the kitchen operates seamlessly in the absence of the Executive Chef. This position involves assisting in the creation, refinement, and execution of innovative menus that embody the vision of Tasting House, aiming to provide an exceptional dining experience for our guests. The Sous Chef guarantees that all dishes are prepared and presented consistently, adhering to the established recipes, portion sizes, cooking methods, and service standards.

In this role, the Sous Chef will efficiently manage service flow, ensuring that food quality and pace are maintained. Collaboration with the Expeditor and service staff is essential to uphold the integrity of the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor the culinary team, providing guidance and training to new staff members.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with all team members.
  • Oversee food inventory management and cost control, working closely with line cooks and the Executive Chef.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of operational processes, policies, and standards that improve efficiency without compromising guest satisfaction.
  • Act as a role model within the organization, inspiring team members and positively representing the brand.
  • Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as needed, demonstrating flexibility and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in managing and leading culinary teams, preferably in a fine dining environment.
  • A focus on results, with a commitment to improving efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required; Spanish fluency is a significant advantage.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and make real-time adjustments.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs) and endure long hours on foot.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and a willingness to learn and collaborate in a team setting.
  • Adherence to company standards regarding appearance and attire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and possess good vision, including depth perception and focus adjustment.
  • Frequent standing and walking required.
  • Capacity to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable navigating stairs and ladders.
  • Frequent use of manual dexterity and motor skills.
  • Flexibility to work in varying locations as needed.
  • Willingness to work evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business demands.
  • Primarily an indoor work environment.
