Laborer - Alaska - Ahtna Infrastructure & Technologies Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Laborer to join our team at Ahtna Technical Services, Inc. in Alaska. The successful candidate will perform physical labor indoors and outdoors, moving materials, equipment, and parts between production areas, and operating hand/power tools of all types.
Key Responsibilities:
- Locate and move materials, equipment, and parts between work areas of project location/site to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules, needs, and priorities
- General knowledge in the use of manual hand tools and power hand tools
- Locating underground utilities with a shovel
- Working in confined spaces
- Capability to work in a remote camp environment for extended periods of up to 8 weeks
- Provide assistance to staff in the field/site location
- General manual labor including the use of hand tools and providing manual labor support for project activities and site location
- Capable of operating all-terrain vehicles
- May assist heavy equipment operator as a ground support person. Identify any hazards as observed for the safety of personnel and equipment
- Requires the ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and/or other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites
- Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment
- Possess good housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazards to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials
- Participate in Ahtna medical surveillance program, in accordance with 29CFR
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Valid Driver's License
- Knowledge of construction machines and tools; including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance, and the practical application of use
- Ability to pass HAZWOPER physical and respirator fit test
- Ability to complete pre-employment background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Course and 8-Hour HAZWOPER refresher with the last 12 months
- Current Alaska Department of Labor Certificate of Fitness for Asbestos Abatement
- Lead Awareness course completion
- Knowledge and experience with Alaska Native cultures
Working Environment:
- May be indoors or outdoors, subject to confined spaces, changes in temperature, weather conditions, and noise levels
Physical Demands:
- Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components
- Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials
