Job Title: Director, Biomedical Engineering and Medical Equipment Management

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Biomedical Engineering and Medical Equipment Management to lead our Biomedical Engineering and Central Equipment Services departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all aspects of medical equipment support and management services to our medical centers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management: Manage BME and CES staff, including recruiting, training, assigning, managing, and assessing staff development.
  2. Medical Device Technology: Consult and assist in the management of medical device technology with other leadership colleagues.
  3. Problem Solving: Analyze and implement effective solutions to complex problems.
  4. Reporting: Report adverse equipment events and other mandated reporting events.
  5. Budget Management: Monitor, plan, and assist in creating and administering the operations budget.
  6. Policy Development: Develop and review policies related to medical equipment management.
  7. Communication: Participate in patient safety, disaster preparedness, risk management, and other clinical support groups.
  8. Self-Development: Attend courses, read industry publications, and participate in in-house education and seminars to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  9. Equipment Management: Maintain proper levels of equipment and supplies delivered throughout the medical centers.
  10. Medical Equipment Procurement: Advise and participate in the selection of medical equipment used and requested by the medical centers.
  11. Integration: Promote and expand the integration of medical devices into the electronic medical record system.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience managing a Biomedical Engineering department in an acute healthcare facility.
  • Engineering with Biomedical emphasis or equivalent clinical engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years' successful experience responsible for multiple cost centers and programs.
  • BS in Healthcare administration may be approved by Human Resources and Engineering VP based on experience factors.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Minimum AS degree in Electronics with ICC/AAMI Certification in Biomedical Engineering Technology.
