A leading professional services firm, The Execu|Search Group, is seeking a highly skilled State & Local Tax Manager to join their team. As a State & Local Tax Manager, you will play a critical role in providing expert knowledge on state and local tax matters, including income, franchise property, and sales and use taxes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Update state income tax nexus analysis by entity, ensuring accurate and timely compliance.
  • Prepare comprehensive state apportionment workpapers, utilizing advanced analytical skills.
  • Review and maintain state tax adjustments regularly, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Review state income tax returns and ensure timely filing, meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with external tax preparers and manage information requests, fostering strong relationships.
  • Handle state estimated tax payments and extension calculations, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Coordinate EFT payments to state taxing authorities, maintaining compliance.
  • Support income tax compliance processes and improvement initiatives, driving efficiency.
  • Prepare state effective tax rate forecasts, providing valuable insights.
  • Assist with state and local income tax provision, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
  • Support state close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Assist in state tax planning and special projects, driving business growth.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of Tax experience, with a strong background in state and local taxation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field, with a strong academic record.
  • Experience with public companies or national accounting firms, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desired Skills:
  • Master's Degree in Taxation or MBA, with a strong focus on taxation.
  • CPA certification or parts passed, with a strong understanding of taxation.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion, JD Edwards, and Corp Tax, with the ability to leverage technology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced analytical skills.
