Senior Business Systems Consultant

Position Overview: Zurich North America is seeking a Senior Business Systems Consultant to join our team. This role will operate in a hybrid model, contributing to our Analytics Engineering department within the Chief Data Office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates and directs sessions with stakeholders to extract comprehensive requirements through interviews, documentation, and collaborative workshops for sanctioned initiatives and enhancements. Oversees business decisions and manages the documentation and communication of requirements.
  • Conducts thorough analysis of requirements to assess system capabilities and defines the impact on various business units and systems, while also providing insights for development efforts.
  • Develops process models derived from business needs to ensure completeness of information and process elements.
  • Delivers cost/benefit analyses, risk evaluations, and scope definitions for proposed requirements to stakeholders.
  • Assists users in crafting business cases; performs impact assessments; and supports application testing, implementation, and training throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversees individual or sub-project tasks that influence one or multiple business and IT departments.
  • Evaluates project implications through collaboration with business, regulatory, IT management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams.
  • Supports system configuration and integration testing to verify functionality, performance, and alignment with original requirements.
  • Manages project timelines, work plans, and budgets, while assessing feedback and Return On Investment to prioritize projects effectively.
  • Conducts business process modeling and re-engineering based on business requirements to ensure the completeness of information and process components.
  • Utilizes Unified Modeling Language tools to create Use Cases, Class, and Sequence Diagrams based on product design documentation.
  • Mentors team members in technology, architecture, and application delivery.
  • Develops detailed business requirements, use cases, and functional specifications in collaboration with IT and business teams to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Provides ongoing support and training to end-users and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Engineering with 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, or
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent with 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, and
  • Experience in process reengineering; familiarity with LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficient in process modeling tools.
  • Experience in insurance application system design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with use case development.
  • Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel and SQL.
  • Experience in Agile development environments.
  • Strong background in consulting with business and technical teams.
  • Experience in analytical roles on complex enterprise projects.
  • Background in the insurance or financial services sector.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar capacity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, CCBA, or similar).
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
