Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Director of Certification to lead the Small, Women-owned and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Certification Programs. As a senior leader, you will provide strategic direction, management, and oversight to ensure the success of these critical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic objectives, policies, and procedures to achieve certification goals and agency mission.
  • Provide senior advisory services to agency leadership on matters related to SWaM and DBE certification.
  • Manage staff assigned to supervise and perform work associated with certification programs.
  • Monitor overall certification program performance and provide data and reports related to certification statistics.
  • Act as an agency spokesperson to present information related to SWaM and DBE certification.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of business certification programs, including small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and program management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with internal staff as well as external customers.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage time efficiently.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with small businesses.
