Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Development and Sponsor Events to join our small, highly effective team. This key role will be responsible for maintaining our strong relationships with the corporate community, executing our sponsorship plan, and supporting our programs and events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and solicit corporate sponsorships and relationships.
  • Organize and execute corporate patron events for 350 attendees five times a year.
  • Coordinate speaker logistics and program night itineraries.
  • Develop and implement corporate communications strategies.
  • Work with our Richmond Forum Scholars and Director of Student Programs to solicit support for our Speech and Debate Initiative.
  • Assist the Executive Director and Board in forming new relationships and strengthening current ones with all Forum constituencies and prospects.
  • Provide reports and updates to the Board of Directors and attend monthly meetings.
  • Attend Richmond networking events to build relationships and prospect lists.
Work Environment

This role is a key member of our team, working in a small office environment with an extensive network of corporate partners. The Director of Development and Sponsor Events will work closely with our Executive Director and Board of Directors to achieve our mission.

Qualifications
  • Strong track record in nonprofit fundraising or corporate sales experience.
  • Meticulous relationship building and stewardship skills.
  • Budgeting and financial acumen to manage events budget and make strategic decisions.
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Proven ability to maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions.
  • Experience producing large-scale events.
  • Motivation to achieve sales-based sponsorship goals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • An established professional network with Richmond businesses and corporations.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in a relevant field.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Creative flair in event production.
