Join Our Team

As part of our diverse team of innovators and problem-solvers, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space exploration. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring safe and repeatable space missions.

Position Overview

This role is situated within the In-Space Systems Business Unit, which tackles critical challenges in spaceflight, focusing on enhancing space infrastructure and mobility in orbit.

Your Role

As a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design, development, implementation, and testing of advanced GN&C subsystems.

In a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will collaborate closely with fellow GN&C engineers to:

  • Lead complex GN&C analysis, design, and development initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and analysts.
  • Contribute to long-term strategies aimed at enhancing GN&C system performance.
  • Review and assess existing GN&C algorithms, identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Collaborate on software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing, as well as on-vehicle functional testing and flight testing.
  • Troubleshoot GN&C performance issues in both 6DOF environments and Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) facilities.
  • Work alongside systems engineers, software developers, and project managers to integrate GN&C subsystems into overall vehicle designs.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in GN&C for satellite or spacecraft applications.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in synthesizing and prototyping new algorithms.
  • Proficiency in analytical and scripting tools such as Matlab, LabView, Python, and C++.
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the use of Monte Carlo techniques.
  • The capability to present technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • A Master’s degree or PhD in Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in developing GN&C Flight Software using Matlab/Simulink autocode.
  • Experience in setting up or troubleshooting GN&C performance issues in HIL or SIL testbeds.
  • Experience in verification, validation, and testing of embedded software and hardware systems for flight-critical applications.

Inclusivity Statement

At Blue Origin, we value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace. If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply. You may be the perfect fit for this or other roles.
