Position Overview:

This role is essential in guiding Social Security beneficiaries through the complexities of employment-related decisions, particularly concerning their benefits and financial wellbeing. The Coordinator will focus on delivering comprehensive Work Incentive benefits analysis and support to individuals with disabilities, ensuring they understand the implications of employment income on their financial situation and public benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
The Certified Work Incentive Coordinator will:

  • Provide direct benefits counseling to beneficiaries, their families, and representative payees.
  • Document case notes and data in systems within established timelines.
  • Offer follow-up support to beneficiaries and collaborate with agencies and support teams as needed.
  • Clarify how employment and self-employment income affect SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare, and other public assistance programs.
  • Assist beneficiaries in navigating work incentives and how to utilize them effectively.
  • Prepare detailed Benefits Summary and Analysis reports to illustrate the impact of employment on benefits.
  • Act as a liaison between beneficiaries and the Social Security Administration when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess:

  • A high school diploma is required; a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Disability Studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health challenges is advantageous.
  • Current certification as a Community Work Incentive Coordinator from Virginia Commonwealth University is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to the Certified Rehabilitation Counselors' Code of Ethics.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements:
This position may involve sedentary work, which includes prolonged sitting, occasional bending, and lifting up to 15 pounds. Some travel may be required across various locations.
