Job Summary

Phys Financial LLC is a leading Medical Coding and Billing organization dedicated to providing exceptional services to our clients. We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret medical record documentation to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures, and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers.
  • Ensure timely and accurate coding, charging, and abstraction of accounts for assigned specialty areas.
  • Stay updated on coding guidelines through participation in seminars and continuous study.
  • Maintain current certification and CEU's.
  • Review and apply payer specific guidelines when coding assigned charts.
  • Review and apply National and Local coverage determination requirements (NCD and LCD) when coding assigned charts.
  • Maintain accuracy and quality in coding to facilitate clean billing.
  • Communicate appropriately with physicians to obtain necessary information for accurate coding.
  • Complete coding assignments in a timely manner as determined by company guidelines and industry standards for assigned specialty.
  • Assist Revenue Cycle Operations in denial resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providers, co-workers and management.
Requirements
  • Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).
  • 3+ years of professional coding experience, including ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and CPT procedure coding.
  • 3+ years of professional services coding experience.
  • 3+ years of inpatient facility coding experience, including surgery.
  • 3+ years of experience with DRG and OPPS coding guidelines.
  • Extensive experience with various documentation and Electronic Medical Records systems. Experience with Meditech software preferred.
  • Extensive experience in observation, same-day surgery, emergency department, ancillary, outpatient and evaluation and management services.

  • Independent decision-making skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
