About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mainframe Capacity Planning Analyst to join our Infrastructure & Operations Enterprise Capacity Management team at Charles Schwab.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide data-driven capacity recommendations to application and product teams to ensure our datacenter footprint is rightsized to reduce risk and improve efficiencies.
  • Develop and maintain complex IBM Mainframe hardware components and system management expertise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive capacity planning initiatives and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvements.
  • Design and implement effective capacity planning strategies to optimize Mainframe resources.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • 7+ years of experience in IBM Mainframe hardware components and system management.
  • 5+ years' experience as a capacity planner in a complex IBM Mainframe environment.
  • 5+ years' experience coding SAS routines to capture measurement data for forecasting.
  • Advanced SAS coding skills, including SAS macros.
  • In-depth knowledge of MICS/MXG and zOS operating system, JES2, and other Mainframe components.
  • Proven experience managing Coupling Facilities in Sysplex environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external teams.
