Computer Support Specialist

The University of Arkansas seeks a skilled Computer Support Technician to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for providing top-notch technical support to students, faculty, and staff. Your expertise will be essential in maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendors.
- Install, configure, upgrade, or replace microcomputer hardware and software for users.
- Evaluate and make recommendations for necessary adjustments to applications to satisfy user requirements.
- Provide recommendations on the purchase of user hardware and software.
- Assist in planning, preparation, and conducting seminars on software, hardware, network or other computer related topics.
Requirements:
- The formal education equivalent of an associate's degree in computer science, business systems, mathematics, or a related field.
- OR Completion of technical training in computer science, information technology, or a related field acquired from a vocational, military, or industrial setting.
- PLUS At least one year of experience in computer support operations, or applicable combination of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Audovisual and video editing experience.
- Customer service experience, especially in an information technology field.
- Experience working in higher education.
Salary Information: Commensurate with education and experience.
