Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse, Quality Control is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of various clinical functions, including Chronic Illness Clinics, care assessments, and medication administration.

These responsibilities involve:
  • Assisting with inquiries from external agencies during audits or reviews.
  • Contributing to the development of processes and procedures that ensure quality patient services and adherence to professional standards.
  • Engaging in problem identification and data collection.
  • Reviewing data outcomes and implementing necessary changes, while monitoring to assess if issues have been resolved or require further action.
  • Utilizing client audit tools to oversee clinical compliance and assist in formulating corrective action plans for compliance indicators below 90%.
  • Identifying areas for improvement, understanding work processes, determining root causes of variations, and proposing actionable changes.
  • Recognizing non-compliance areas and facilitating the integration of standards into operational processes.
  • Monitoring long-term hospital inpatient admissions and communicating clinical concerns to the corporate utilization review department.
  • Assisting the Health Service Administrator in providing clinical data.
  • Measuring the impact of improvement initiatives and reviewing outcomes during monthly and quarterly Continuous Quality Improvement meetings.
  • Planning and organizing quality control programs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of medical records and reports.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Competencies

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required. A current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of employment is mandatory.
  • Possession of an active, unencumbered RN license in the relevant state.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of direct work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and infection control standards is essential.
  • Competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessments, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) are necessary.
  • The ability to work independently in performing nursing assessments and providing appropriate treatment using approved protocols is crucial.
  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software is expected.
