Meat Market Manager Trainee Position

Hannaford Supermarkets is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Meat Market Manager Trainee to join our team. As a key member of our Meat Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing department operations, and developing a team of associates to meet sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Meat Cutter functions as necessary, ensuring high-quality products and excellent customer service.
- Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling when necessary, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure department associates are properly trained by certified trainers, maintaining a high level of product knowledge and skills.
- Develop and maintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards, ensuring efficient operations and maximum profitability.
- Understand and use company tools, such as MPP, financial reports, and BIG, to drive business results and improve department performance.
- Ensure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed, maximizing profitability and meeting sales and inventory goals.
- Maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization, promoting a culture of transparency and open communication.
- Observe and ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink, taking proactive steps to minimize losses and improve department performance.
- Have a total understanding of the department's standard practice manual and Program Manuals for each Meat program, staying up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
- A high school graduate or equivalent preferred, with a strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
- Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team.
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to use technical information to solve problems.
- A demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Able to use technical systems required to perform the job functions, with the ability to lift cases or packages of meat weighing 1-40 lb. Frequently and 100 lb. on occasion.
- Meet established volume activity standards, standing or walking up to 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F, 60% of the time.
- Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced, and weighed.
- Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and meat products.
- Frequent bending, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Manage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices, ensuring efficient operations and maximum profitability.
- Ensure the maintenance of the department's appearance and presentation, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Hire, train, and develop associates to meet the department needs, promoting a culture of growth and development.
- Attain departmental supply and financial objectives, driving business results and improving department performance.
- Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all Meat associates as assigned, promoting a culture of accountability and responsibility.
- Role model outstanding friendly customer service, promoting a culture of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance of the department, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure the maintenance of accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory, maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability.
