Meat Market Manager Trainee Position

Hannaford Supermarkets is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Meat Market Manager Trainee to join our team. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality products and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Perform Meat Cutter functions as necessary, maintaining a high level of product quality and presentation.
- Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling to associates, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Ensure department associates are properly trained by certified trainers, adhering to company standards and protocols.
- Develop product knowledge in all areas of the Meat department, including fresh beef items, pork and chicken, all natural products, and process meat items.
- Conduct performance appraisals on all department associates, adhering to company standards and providing constructive feedback.
- Maintain effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards, ensuring associates' personal needs are met.
- Understand and use company tools, such as MPP, financial reports, scheduling, ordering, and BIG, to optimize department performance.
- Ensure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed to maximize profitability, focusing on priority categories and philosophy meat case plan-o-grams.
- Maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization, promoting a culture of transparency and open communication.
- Observe and ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Understand the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink, taking proactive measures to minimize losses.
- Have a total understanding of the department's standard practice manual and Program Manuals for each Meat program, staying up-to-date on company policies and procedures.
- A high school graduate or equivalent is preferred, with a strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
- Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills are essential, as well as effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A desire and ability to lead and manage a team, with a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
- Ability to use technical information to solve problems, with a strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company-provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.
- Ability to use computers and other technical systems required to perform the job functions.
- Lift cases or packages of meat weighing 1-40 lb. Frequently and 100 lb. on occasion, meeting established volume activity standards.
- Stand or walk up to 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F, 60% of the time, performing repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand/arm motions.
- Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and meat products, with frequent bending.
The salary range for this position is between $27.25 hourly, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
