Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Meat Cutter functions as necessary, ensuring accurate and efficient processing of meat products.
  • Provide guidance and support to department associates, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Develop and maintain product knowledge in all areas of the Meat department, including fresh beef, pork, chicken, and natural products.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback to associates, ensuring they meet company standards.
  • Manage department operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and merchandising.
  • Ensure compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve sales and profitability goals, driving business growth and expansion.
Requirements
  • A high school graduate or equivalent, with a strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques.
  • Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to use technical information to solve problems, with a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company-provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use computers and other technical systems required to perform the job functions.
  • Lift cases or packages of meat weighing 1-40 lb. Frequently and 100 lb. on occasion.
  • Meet established volume activity standards, standing or walking up to 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F, 60% of the time.
  • Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand/arm motions as the product is identified, wrapped, priced, and weighed.
  • Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, and meat products.
  • Frequent bending.
Preferred Requirements
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers.
  • Manage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the department's appearance and presentation.
  • Hire, train, and develop associates to meet the department needs.
  • Attain departmental supply and financial objectives.
  • Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all Meat associates as assigned.
  • Role model outstanding friendly customer service.
  • Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance of the department.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
